Gips Procedure for Pilonidal Cyst

Background:

Pilonidal disease is a quite common chronic inflammatory disease that causes discomfort, embarrassment and absence from work or school.


The Gips procedure for the treatment of pilonidal disease is safe and feasible. It has a low complication and recurrence rate, early return to daily activities and offers a good cosmetic result.


Post op instructions post gips procedure:

  • Procedure done under local anesthesia and iv sedation
  • Do not drive for 24 hours if your procedure is under sedation
  • You have no stitches
  • There are small open wounds
  • You may shower in 24 hours
  • Clean the area with shower water, dry the area and apply a dry dressing
  • You may take Tylenol and ibuprofen for post-operative
  • Pain or discomfort
  • Please arrange a follow-up in person or virtually with Dr Roldan in 4 weeks
