Gips Procedure for Pilonidal Cyst
Background:
Pilonidal disease is a quite common chronic inflammatory disease that causes discomfort, embarrassment and absence from work or school.
The Gips procedure for the treatment of pilonidal disease is safe and feasible. It has a low complication and recurrence rate, early return to daily activities and offers a good cosmetic result.
Post op instructions post gips procedure:
- Procedure done under local anesthesia and iv sedation
- Do not drive for 24 hours if your procedure is under sedation
- You have no stitches
- There are small open wounds
- You may shower in 24 hours
- Clean the area with shower water, dry the area and apply a dry dressing
- You may take Tylenol and ibuprofen for post-operative
- Pain or discomfort
- Please arrange a follow-up in person or virtually with Dr Roldan in 4 weeks
